Seminary Benefit Dinner 2017

Deacon Nathan DailIt was a wonderful night as the monks and faculty of Mount Angel Abbey and Seminary came together for the 14th annual Seminary Benefit Dinner, Called to Share the Light of Faith, on Sunday, Nov. 5, at the Oregon Convention Center.

Close to 1,100 guests joined the monks of Mount Angel Abbey to celebrate the 140 seminarians studying this year at Mount Angel Seminary. Although the men come from dioceses and religious communities from across the western United States, their common commitment to share the light of their Catholic Faith through prayer, service and sacrament created immediate and joyful bonds.

Early comments from dinner guests include:

  • “Best Seminary Benefit Dinner ever!”
  • “I was deeply moved by the seminarians.”
  • “This was our first time at the dinner. We'll be back next year!”

Seminary Benefit Dinner 2017While dinner gifts will continue to arrive in the days ahead, we know we are quickly closing in on revenues of $1.1 million to help Mount Angel Abbey and Seminary form and educate the next generation of priests. That generous amount covers 85% of the monks’ annual $1.3 million funding gap!

In case you missed this year’s dinner – or if you attended and want to reignite the excitement of the evening – take a moment and watch the video, Called to Share the Light of Faith. Share it with your family and friends!
