In the Christian tradition meals are a "type" or spiritual remembrance of the Holy Eucharist, the Lord's Supper.
For this reason, meals at the Saint Benedict Guesthouse and Retreat Center are typically shared in common, and are eaten in the guesthouse dining room on the first floor of the retreat center.
Meal times typically follow those of prayer: breakfast follows Lauds at 7:00 a.m., lunch follows Midday Prayer at 12:15 p.m., and dinner follows Vespers at 6:00 p.m.
The community offers our guests meals prepared in the Abbey kitchen. We avoid processed foods or food prepared in other facilities, preferring local, seasonal and, as often as possible, monastery grown or produced products.
Please note: Due to construction and renovation of the guesthouse and retreat center, the facility will be closed from June through February 2019 while the new building is tied into the existing structure and necessary upgrades are complete.
The turnaround and elevator from the south side parking level to the Abbey mall and church level will be closed from June 11 through the end of construction. There are spaces reserved on the mall level on the north side of the Damian Center, #9 on this Walking Tour map, for vehicles with disabled parking permits.
