Fellowship of Scholars

Eucharist and Trinity as Source and
Form of the Synodal Church:
Communion, Participation, Mission
September 29 – October 3, 2025
Registration for this event is closed.

This year’s Fellowship of Scholars will center on studying the Eucharist and the Trinity in the Synodality in the Church, approaching it through the lens of Trinitarian Ontology and Communion Ecclesiology. Together with Msgr. Piero Coda, Secretary General of the Vatican’s International Theology Commission, Peter Casarella from Duke University, and various other scholars from around the world, the workshop will be held at Mount Angel from September 29 to October 3, and is sponsored by Mount Angel Seminary and the Mount Angel Institute.

With the Eucharist at the center of life and study, Mount Angel Abbey and Seminary provide an ideal setting for working together to explore the synodal dimensions of a Eucharistic Church, especially in the context of the synodal process underway in the Church since 2021. The Secretary General of the Secretariat of the Synod, Cardinal Grech, will be present with us at Mount Angel to draw from the experience of this working session. Trinitarian Ontology provides the methodology for the workshop, benefiting from the presence of participants who are currently involved with the Dynamic Dictionary of Trinitarian Ontology project (coordinated by Piero Coda) taking place in Italy, Spain, France, and Latin America.
