How you can help
The monks seek the assistance of Mount Angel Abbey’s friends and benefactors to transform the Saint Benedict Guesthouse and Retreat Center into the region’s leading center for spiritual growth and renewal. Your gift is important. It will be stewarded wisely. And it will be appreciated by the thousands who receive soul care at the Abbey.
There are many ways to support the renovation and expansion of the Saint Benedict Guesthouse and Retreat Center! You can make a gift to the Abbey Foundation of Oregon specifically for the Guesthouse project. Gifts may be made annually, as a 3-5 year pledge, or as a single gift. Here are the ways we receive contributions from our donors:

What is the difference between “endowed” and “expendable” gifts? How does the Abbey Foundation of Oregon’s endowment work?
Expendable gifts are used in their entirety during a specific period of time. Gifts to annual funds, for example, are expendable. Some larger expendable gifts are used over longer periods.
Endowment refers to funds meant to exist in perpetuity, to support the monks, the seminary, facilities or specific missions. These gifts are invested for the long term and intended to provide a permanent source of financial support. Each year, a portion of the fund is paid out – usually 3 to 5 percent – and used for the purposes the donor and the Abbey agreed upon when the gift was made.
Am I qualified to make an IRA Rollover gift?
On Dec. 18, 2015, the president signed legislation indefinitely extending the charitable IRA rollover, making it retroactive to Jan. 1, 2015, with no expiration date.
Since this option was first made available in tax year 2006, many donors age 70 1/2 or older have used this option to support Mount Angel Abbey with tax-wise gifts ranging from $100 to $100,000. Before making arrangements for a rollover, please contact the Development Office at 503-845-3030.
