Alumni Continuing Education Program 2010
Msgr. Arturo Bañuelas will speak at Mount Angel Seminary on Thursday, April 28, 2010. His subject will be lay ministry in the parish; convinced that we do not need more “volunteers,” Msgr. Bañuelas urges lay people to claim their baptismal call and chrismation which leads to their being “ministers.” Pastor of St. Pius X in El Paso , Texas, and named in Excellent Catholic Parishes: Guide to the Best Places and Practices by Paul Wilkes, Msgr. Bañuelas has led the development of some 30 lay ministries in his parish.
Msgr. Bañuelas’ presentation is part of the annual Priests’ Alumni Continuing Education Program, sponsored by Mount Angel Seminary and its Alumni Office. Father Richard Paperini, President-Rector of the Seminary, noted that the Priests’ Alumni Continuing Education days are a wonderful opportunity for the seminarians to get to know priests from across the West, including priests from their own dioceses and religious orders. It is also a chance for alumni to renew friendships with classmates and faculty. “The alums are part of the Seminary family,” Father Paperini said, “and we look forward to their coming back to the Hill for a time of renewal and relaxation!”
Essential information and materials for conference registration are contained in the Program Brochure (PDF); other information and forms are posted at right. Please note: The Abbey Retreat House will NOT be available to house returning alumni. For further information, priest alumni can call the Continuing Education Office at the Seminary at 503-845-3333.
