Make an Everlasting Gift

Your will or other estate plan document is the most important love letter you can write. As you plan for the distribution of your estate, please remember the work of Mount Angel Abbey and Seminary through a gift to The Abbey Foundation of Oregon. Here are four opportunities to consider.

Bequests and Testamentary Gifts

Name The Abbey Foundation of Oregon as a beneficiary of your estate. Either provide for a percentage of your estate to The Abbey Foundation or a specific dollar amount.

Life Insurance

Name The Abbey Foundation of Oregon as owner and beneficiary of a new or existing life insurance policy. In most cases, you can deduct the premiums you pay as a charitable contribution on your income tax return. Adding The Abbey Foundation as a beneficiary to an existing policy can be done with a change of beneficiary form obtained from your insurance agent, and in many cases will result in a charitable contribution deduction.

Retirement Plan

Naming The Abbey Foundation as a beneficiary of your retirement plan is one of the most tax advantaged estate gifts you can make.

Charitable Trusts

Transfer cash, securities or real property into a qualified trust to benefit The Abbey Foundation of Oregon and receive a charitable tax deduction and life income from your gift. For more information, consult your tax advisor, or the Mount Angel Abbey Development Office.

Use of Estate Gifts

Most estate gifts are placed into The Abbey Foundation endowment where they are invested and a portion of the earnings are used to fund works of the Abbey. You may designate your gift for a specific purpose, such as Mount Angel Seminary, Monastery, Library or Retreat House. All donors who make an estate provision for The Abbey Foundation are remembered in the daily prayers of the Monastic Community.
