A Message from Abbot Nathan

The child abuse scandal that has rocked the Catholic Church these last few years has challenged Church leadership to a new and deeper commitment to the protection of children everywhere. The monks of Mount Angel Abbey are appalled by the harm done to any child by Church personnel, particularly the tragic harm caused by sexual abuse.

This site outlines Mount Angel Abbey's response to the scandal, with the establishment of the Review Board in 2002 and our Office of Child Protection. Those who wish to learn more will find a safe and open avenue to do so. My hope is that we can work together with the whole Church toward reconciliation, healing and forgiveness.
