Fr. Cosmas retires ministry, Fr. Abbot appoints two monks at the Towers
Mount Angel Abbey - After many years of generous pastoral ministry - most recently
at the Towers - Father Cosmas White, OSB will now retire from his ministry. Though
his spirit remains willing, the condition of his legs has made it very difficult for him
to get around. Fr. Abbot Gregory thanked Fr. Cosmas for all the service he rendered
to the Church so very generously and for such a long time!
For the continuation of service to the people at the Towers, Fr. Abbot appointed two
priest monks - Fr. Martin and Fr. Jacob. While Fr. Martin's plate is already full serving
as the Abbey Procurator, the Abbot appreciated his willingness to offer mass at the
Towers on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. On the other hand, Fr. Jacob's primary
work in the seminary will require him to be present for Mass with the seminary
community on those days, but with Fr. Betschart's approval he will generously offer
Mass at the Towers on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays and may also
provide some time for other pastoral visiting there, as time and as his seminary
duties permit.
Let's pray for our brothers on their new assignment and may the people at the Towers
be blessed with the new assigned monks priests.
